Lido Ponty

Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is situated at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, just 20 minutes from Cardiff city centre and 20 minutes from Aberdare.

The Grade II listed lido, which originally opened in 1927, has been beautifully-restored to its former glory and re-opened to the public in 2015. It is now a popular family tourist attraction, welcoming visitors from all over the world.

Penderyn Whisky Distillery

‘Distilling in Wales was a lost art...’

But in the late 1990s in a pub in a small post-industrial Welsh valley town, a group of friends drank and chatted about establishing the first whisky distillery in Wales in over a century. Pontypridd Museum

Housed in a converted chapel built in 1861, Pontypridd Museum tells the history of Pontypridd and its people through a variety of exhibitions.

The converted Welsh Baptist Chapel situated next to Pontypridd’s iconic Edward’s Bridge (known locally as the Old Bridge) houses working models of nearby canals, mines and railways, archived film and voice records of the history of the area, historical objects and a magnificent pipe organ which is still used for recitals. Nantgarw China Works Museum

For two short periods between 1813-14 and 1817-20,  William Billingsley and his family produced some of the finest porcelain the world has known. The Nantgarw China Works Trust is a charitable trust which preserves for all those who recognise the importance of Nantgarw porcelain in the history of ceramic manufacturing, the historical, architectural and constructional heritage of the buildings at Nantgarw and promotes interest in Nantgarw porcelain.
