Christmas Collection Day Changes | Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council

Your weekly collections for recycling, food, nappies and black bag waste WILL CHANGE during the Christmas period.

BOOKABLE GREEN Waste collections are SUSPENDED from w/c 25th December to allow us to use as many resources as possible to collect the anticipated record amounts of Mighty recycling this Christmas. The bookable Green waste service will resume from Monday 15th January.

Changes WILL apply to ALL recycling collections, including nappies, food and CLEAR bag recycling.

W/c Monday 25th December Collections

Collections due on Monday 25th December will be collected on Wednesday 27th December and will skip 2 days all week -Tuesday to Thursday, Wednesday to Friday, Thursday to Saturday, Friday to Sunday.

All refuse and recycling (including nappies and food waste recycling) should be placed at its collection point by 7am on your revised collection days.

W/c Monday 1st January 2024 Collections

All collections will skip just 1 day – so Monday’s collection will be collected on Tuesday etc. This applies to ALL your scheduled collections for recycling, food, nappies and black bag waste for the week commencing Monday 1st January (New Year week).

All refuse and recycling (including nappies and food waste recycling) should be placed at its normal collection point by 7am on your normal collection days.

If your refuse/recycling has not been collected as planned, please leave it at the kerbside as we may be working additional hours to meet extra demand. Our crews can work well into the evening during busy periods.

ALL recycling and waste collections will return to normal w/c Monday 8th January 2024.

Collection tips

Rinse food and drink containers, bottles in your leftover washing up water before placing them in to your recycling bags.
Stock up on recycling bags ahead of the festive period by visiting one of the many collection points across RCT.
Please place refuse and recycling out before 7am on your normal or revised collection day and not before as this can lead to spillages and difficulties for pedestrians using the pavement.
Place ALL wrapping paper and gift bags in to a separate CLEAR bag, including foil and glitter wrapping paper.

Bulky and Green Waste Collections

Bulky waste collections and delivery of wheelie bins/food waste bins will however be suspended from w/c 25th December to allow us to use as many resources as possible to collect the anticipated record amounts of Mighty recycling this Christmas. Normal services will resume from Monday 8th January.

The bookable Winter Green Waste Collection Service (including 'real' Christmas trees not booked in for collection) will be suspended from the week commencing Monday 25th December until Friday 12th January 2024. Booked Winter Green Waste Collections will resume on Monday 15th January 2024. Green waste, including real Christmas trees, can still be taken to your local CRCs (unbagged) throughout the festive period.

Please Note: Artificial Christmas trees can either be taken to a Community Recycling Centre or booked in for a Bulky Waste Collection.

When parking vehicles, residents are reminded to be considerate of large waste collection vehicles required for collections. Please ensure there is enough space for our vehicles to pass, especially in narrow streets.
