This project has provided a new school building with state-of-the-art facilities on the existing school site, which has replaced the older and temporary accommodation with a first-class learning environment.
This major investment for the community is jointly funded by the Council and Welsh Government via the Mutual Investment Model, which is the revenue funding stream of the Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme. This funding was initial confirmed in December 2022.
Phase One of the construction phase delivered the brand new school building, which opened to staff and pupils in March 2025.

The new building has capacity for 480 pupils (plus nursery places), and delivers a state-of-the-art environment that includes a central heart-space, classrooms for Nursery through to Year 6, a main hall, and supporting areas. The building will achieve Net Zero carbon in operation, conforming to both the Council’s and Welsh Government’s Climate Change commitments.
Construction contractor Morgan Sindall then turned its attention to Phase Two of the project –focussing on the external areas of the wider development. These works removed all temporary accommodation and demolished the remaining older buildings on site. This greatly opened up the site and provided a large open area in which a two-court Multi Use Games Area has been built – along with hard and soft spaces, an outdoor classroom, seating areas, a car park for staff and visitors, and ‘trim trail’ play equipment for the pupils.
