Pontyclun Primary School

The Council is applying for Band B funding via the Mutual Investment Model of Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme – to provide the school with a new building and external facilities.

Artist impression of Pontyclun Primary School EntranceThe investment would replace the current buildings at the school – including temporary classrooms – with a two-storey new build, which will be Net Zero Carbon in operation. The development, to be delivered by 2023, would accommodate 480 pupils plus 60 nursery places.

The development would deliver a vibrant learning environment, while also providing community-use facilities. It would create new external facilities such as a car park, two-court Multi Use Games Area and generous green spaces – in contrast to the hard landscape of the current site.

A consultation running between October and November 2021 provided residents with an opportunity to find out more and have their say.

The project received full planning permission from the Council’s Planning and Development Committee in March 2022.
