The Social Lettings Agency offers landlords a full property management service for the duration of the lease, including repairs and maintenance, and a guaranteed rental income even when the property is void.
The scheme offers the opportunity for local authorities to work with private landlords to offer tenants longer term secure accommodation with ongoing housing related support whilst keeping properties at a high standard with no additional cost to the landlord.
The aim of the scheme is to improve access to long-term, good quality affordable housing, with tenancy support in the private rented sector. Tenants are matched to the properties from the Council’s Homefinder waiting list. As part of the Social Letting Agency scheme, landlords are offered a grant of £5,000 in order to bring the property up to the minimum Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) and up to £9,999 for empty properties.
