Electric Vehicle Charging Points – update on installations

EV-charging-points-BANNER
This page shows the progress being made to install public-use Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points in Rhondda Cynon Taf

An important part of the Council’s climate change commitment is promoting the use of electric vehicles and providing EV charging facilities for residents unable to charge at home. The Council’s Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy covers the period 2021 to 2030, and is available to view online.

Electric vehicles significantly reduce the exhaust emissions that are produced in comparison to petrol and diesel vehicles, resulting in improved air quality.

Phase 1 – new EV charging points at 31 Council car parks

Funding has been secured, working closely with the Cardiff Capital Region. There will be more than 70 installations across 31 sites and they will be mix of 7kw and 22kw fast charging points, with many sites having multiple chargers.

They will be installed and maintained by contractor Connected Kerb. The contractor has provided a Frequently Asked Questions page about their EV charging points – ranging from how to charge a vehicle, to the length of time it takes and the price of use. The FAQs can be accessed here.

The table below will be regularly updated, as work progresses at different locations:

Other Installations

With support from external funding such as the Welsh Government’s Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) Transformation Fund and the Sports for All Grant, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has installed public charging infrastructure across key locations in Rhondda Cynon Taf, supporting Welsh Government’s strategic vision for Electric Vehicle Charging in Wales.

The Council remains committed to expanding access to off-street EV charging to encourage the transition to electric vehicles and reduce carbon emissions. Additional projects are planned to meet growing demand and support the local community’s move toward greener transport options.
