Budget Consultation 2020/21

Please Note! This consultation is now finished, and a report will be available in the New Year ahead of a phase 2 consultation on the budget strategy.

The Council’s total net revenue budget for 2019/20 is £483M. Welsh Government funds 76% of this budget (£367M), Council Tax income accounts for 23% (£112M) and the remaining 1% (£4M) is from specific grants and the use of the Council’s own reserves.
Following the announcement of the General Election, the Welsh Government settlement to Local Government for next year has been delayed.  As a result Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Budget Consultation for this year will be a phased approach, so that we can ensure residents and stakeholders have as much opportunity as possible to provide views on the budget and to make sure that views are informed by the most up to date and relevant information.

Phase 1

Phase 1 starts on Thursday 21st November 2019, and runs until Monday 16th December.  We would like your views on:

  • possible Council Tax increases;
  • the funding currently provided to deliver services;
  • which services should we prioritise for investment;
  • possible increases in fees and charges;
  • the Council Tax Reduction Scheme;
  • the resources allocated to our schools
