The Met Office has issued another Yellow Weather Warning affecting our County Borough from 10pm on Friday, January 13, to noon on Saturday, January 14, due to heavy rain at times.
This may result in traffic and travel disruption in some areas, as well as spraying and surface water on the roads. Public transport may also be affected by the weather conditions.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and drive according to the conditions.
The Council’s Highways and Streetcare departments have already undertaken proactive measures by checking priority culverts. Staff will also monitor water levels in all culverts across the County Borough.
But the public is advised to remain alert and take extra care throughout the Met Office weather warning. Where possible and safe to do so, residents and businesses are also being asked to themselves help alleviate the risk of flooding in local areas.
There are small actions we can do which could make a big difference at this time, such as removing fallen leaves and clearing other debris from private drains and properties, as these often result in blocked drains and gullies.
If you have any issues, please call the Council’s Emergency Out Of Hours number 01443 425011. Also, follow the Council’s official Twitter and Facebook social media accounts for regular updates.
