UPDATED: 20/09/23 - please note, the work outlined in this news item was completed ahead of schedule, and the advertised road closure for September 22-25 is no longer needed. Buses will run as normal.
Please note, there will be temporary bus arrangements in place due to an upcoming road closure at Cardiff Road in Taffs Well, to facilitate works relating to the South Wales Metro.
Amberon Ltd will be undertaking trial holes locally, requiring Cardiff Road to close over 140-metres – from Cemetery Road to a point north west of Ffordd Bleddyn.
A map of the closure area has been included on the Council’s website.
The closure will run from 8pm on Friday, September 8, and end by 5am on Monday, September 11. It will then be repeated on the two following weekends (September 15-18 and September 22-25).
An alternative route for motorists is via A4054 Cardiff Road, Oxford Street Roundabout, Nantgarw Roundabout, A470, Taffs Well Roundabout and Cardiff Road – or this route in reverse order.
Access will not be maintained for emergency services, but will be maintained for pedestrians and to local premises. Access will not be maintained for cyclists, who should use the Taff Trail as a diversion route.
During the closure periods, local bus services will be unable to serve Taffs Well.
Service 132 (Cardiff-Maerdy) and Service 26 (Cardiff-Blackwood) will divert via the A470 in both directions.
A FREE shuttle bus service will operate after 8pm on Fridays, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays, between Cross Keys Bus Stop, Caerphilly Road and Taffs Well Railway Station.
This will enable passengers to connect with Service 132 in both directions, for onwards journeys to Cardiff, Pontypridd and Maerdy.
The shuttle bus service will be operated by Bella Road Services (01443 226992) in both directions,
running to the following timetable.
