The major Berw Road Bridge (White Bridge) repair scheme in Pontypridd will now enter its next phase.
All required concrete repairs to the underside of the Listed bridge have recently been completed, along with the final painting of the structure.
From Monday, January 8, the bridge will need to be closed to pedestrians (for the remainder of the scheme), so the scaffolding can be removed and the next stage of work can start.
A road closure on The Parade, between numbers 70 and 84, will also be implemented from Monday, with a diversion route in place.
Outstanding work to the structure will include removal of the road surface, concrete repairs, and waterproofing of the concrete bridge deck – requiring a temporary gas main diversion.
Drainage work, installation of a new kerb line and footpath, and carriageway resurfacing, will follow on.
The final works will see the refurbishment of the ornamental railings, and repairs/painting of the bridge parapets, before the bridge is re-opened to pedestrians and two-way traffic (with a 7.5-tonne weight limit in place).
The scheme is being delivered via a large programme of Storm Dennis works in Rhondda Cynon Taf for 2023/24, being wholly funded by Welsh Government.
Thanks to residents and road users for your continued patience and cooperation.
