There will be road closures in Aberdare Town Centre on Sunday morning for a short commemorative service at the Cenotaph in Victoria Square.
The service will last around 10 minutes from 11am on Sunday, June 9, and has been organised by the Aberdare Branch of the Royal Welsh to remember the 80th anniversary of the D-day landings.
The road closure will be managed by South Wales Police and will replicate the annual Remembrance Sunday arrangements.
The closures will include the entire length of Canon Street and Victoria Square – and are outlined on the following map.
High Street will also close (southbound lane only) between Seymour Street and Canon Street. Access will be maintained to Seymour Street from High Street for residents living nearby.
On the opposite side of the town centre, Cardiff Street will close between its junctions with Victoria Square and Cross Street.
Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians.
An alternative route for motorists, north of the closure, is via Gadlys Roundabout, A4233 and A4059 Aberdare Bypass.
From the south of the closure, proceed via Tinney’s Roundabout, Cardiff Street, Cross Street, Bute Street, Victoria Square and High Street.
Thanks in advance to the community for your cooperation.
