Rhondda Cynon Taf Amber Weather Warning

Amber-Weather-Warning

There is currently an Amber Weather Warning for rain in place until 06:00 on Monday 24th February, alongside a Yellow Weather Warning for rain which is in place until 08:00 on Monday 24th February

Both Warnings cover the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough area.

For the duration of both concurrent Weather Warnings, we are urging residents and businesses to remain alert and vigilant and to take extra care if undertaking essential journeys.

  • If you do have to travel, then please take extra care and drive to the conditions, allowing extra space between vehicles and extra time for journeys.
  • Take precautions to move cars from areas that could flood - The Council is providing car parks, free of charge, for residents at risk, to temporarily relocate their vehicles if needed.
  • Residents are advised to keep an eye on the National Resources Wales website to check flood risk updates and river levels in your area.

Delays are possible at times, along with disruption to public transport. Surface spray, flooding, power failure, fallen trees/structures and road closures are also possible in some areas of the County Borough.

The Council has additional resources working and Highways teams have been proactively monitoring drains and culverts over recent days and crews will continue to be on standby to help communities throughout the night.

If you have any issues, please call the Council’s Emergency Out Of Hours number 01443 425011. Please remember to always call 999 if there is a risk to life.

Please follow the Met Office and the Council’s social media accounts for all the latest updates.
