Given the unique risk of continued significant flooding at Clydach Terrace, the Council is progressing discussing the acquisition of properties.
A Rhondda Cynon Taf Council spokesperson said: “Earlier this year, we stated that when it came to looking options for Clydach Terrace, nothing was off the table, including acquisition of properties where necessary.
“Since the assessment for flood defences at the location by Natural Resources Wales was deemed unviable, we have engaged with impacted residents on options for the future.
“Given the continued unique risk of significant flooding at this location, and as a result of these conversations with residents, we will be progressing discussions for the acquisition of sixteen properties at Clydach Terrace.
“An appointed valuer will begin negotiations with owners and occupants of the impacted properties to discuss an appropriate value for individual properties and appropriate level of compensation.
“We thank impacted residents for their continued engagement in what is a very significant moment for them."
