Using Lifeline and Lifeline Home Safety equipment

Once your Lifeline or Lifeline Home Safety Package has been installed, you'll be shown how to use it and how to check it is working correctly.

How to use your Lifeline

Once its set up for use:

  • Wear your alarm pendant or wristband whenever you are at home or in the garden.
  • Do not remove when showering, the pendant or wristband alarms are showerproof.
  • Press the red button on your pendant or wristband If you feel unwell or have had a fall.
  • Your call will be connected to the 24-hour Lifeline Monitoring Centre.
  • A Lifeline operator will speak to you through the Lifeline unit and ask how they can help.
  • The operator will arrange the most appropriate support, such as contacting your emergency contacts, requesting that an Emergency Responder visit you or calling the emergency services if needed.
  • If you press your pendant or wristband alarm by accident, don't worry. We will check that you are safe and close the call as a false alarm.

Using your pendant correctly

  • Only use your pendant or wristband alarm when you need help or support.
  • Do not press the alarm repeatedly or use it for non-emergency requests.
  • Repeated misuse of the service could result in it being withdrawn.

Testing your alarm pendant or wristband

  • Test your Lifeline alarm once a month by pressing your pendant or wristband alarm.
  • A Lifeline operator will answer your call and record it as a test.
  • Regular testing helps make sure your equipment is working correctly.
  • If your alarm pendant or wristband battery is running low, the test call will automatically alert our Monitoring Centre.
  • We will arrange a free battery replacement if one is needed.
  • If your Lifeline unit has been switched off or unplugged, our Monitoring Centre will be alerted.
  • An operator will contact you or your named contact to help get the system working again.
  • If there is a fault with the equipment, we will arrange for an installer to visit and fix it.

How to use your Lifeline Home Safety Package

You carbon monoxide detectors, fall detectors, heat sensors and smoke detectors will all be installed for you. These are all sensored alarms, you do not need to use these manually.

These items will automatically altert your emergency contact or the 24-hour Lifeline Monitoring Centre if triggured.

Testing your home safety equipment

Your home safely equiment sensors are powered by batteries which send an automatic low battery notification to the Lifeline Monitoring Centre when they need changing.

We will contact you to make appointment for an engineer to attend to replace the battery free of charge.
