Renewing of wedding vows

We are pleased to offer Re-affirmation of Marriage Vows. These ceremonies are for all married couples wishing to celebrate their continued commitment of love for each other.

Couples can renew or reaffirm their wedding vows at any stage of their marriage.

Re-affirmation of vows ceremonies are just as appropriate for couples that have married abroad and want to say their vows and promises again before their family and friends.

A ceremony can also be particularly relevant to couples who have been through a difficult period together, and who wish to celebrate renewed commitments to each other.

Re-affirmation Ceremonies are secular and will not contain any religious references. If you wish to hold a religious ceremony, please contact your local church or religious community.

Why Re-affirm your Marriage Vows

Re-affirming your marriage vows allows you to celebrate continuing your commitment to each other. Whether it’s just the two of you, or you want to celebrate with your family and friends, we can help you arrange the perfect celebration.

The Renewal of Vows ceremony has no legal status, but is a public declaration of your love towards each other.

Such an event provides a dignified and formal opportunity to:

  • Renew your marriage vows
  • Re-dedicate or give new rings to each other
  • Reiterate your commitment and life long partnership to each other

Any married couple can arrange a Renewal of Vows Ceremony. It does not matter if you have been married before, as long as you are legally married to each other at the time of the ceremony.

The ceremony will be conducted by one of our experienced “Celebrants” who will not be acting in any legal capacity. However, the celebrant conducting the ceremony will offer you help and their expertise to ensure your ceremony is a dignified and meaningful occasion.

Neither the Re-affirmation Ceremony nor any Commemorative Certificate issued holds any legal status.

Can we have a Naming Ceremony at the same time as a Re-affirmation Ceremony?

It is possible for couples to arrange a Naming Ceremony to take place immediately after a Re-affirmation of Vows Ceremony. This may be requested where the couple have an adopted child, when stepchildren are involved or where couple and would like to make a public declaration of their love and support to that child/children. The celebrant conducting the Re-affirmation of Vows Ceremony will be able to advise you further.

Where Can We Hold the Ceremony?

A Renewal of Vows Ceremony can be held at the Register Office which is situated within the historic town of Pontypridd, or at one of our impressive country hotels situated at various locations within the County Borough.

To book your ceremony within Rhondda Cynon Taf, at either the Register Office Pontypridd or at one of our Approved Premises, please contact us

We offer a wide choice of ceremony formats, from a simple informal ceremony with just a few guests, to more formal ceremonies re-enacting your original wedding day with bridesmaids, pageboys and many guests.

Whatever kind of ceremony you may wish to have, our expert and dedicated team will help you plan the ceremony of your dreams, making it a happy and memorable occasion.

Register Office Ceremony

The Register Office is situated in the town centre at the Municipal Buildings, Gelliwastad Road, Pontypridd. There are two rooms available for ceremonies. The Register Office sits up to 10 people, and the Evan James Suite sits up to 45 people.

You are of course welcome to view the rooms, at any time, before booking your ceremony. A small non-refundable booking fee is charged to provisionally book a date and time for your ceremony.

We recognise that your ceremony should be a memorable and special occasion. To ensure we get it just right, before the date of your ceremony, we would like to meet you so that we can arrange the ceremony according to your wishes.

Ceremonies are held between 9:30 am and 3pm on weekdays and up to 1pm on Saturdays. We advise you make your booking well in advance to secure your preferred date and time.

Ceremonies at the Municipal Buildings normally take about 20 minutes. Guests should arrange to meet at the venue approximately 30 minutes before the ceremony is due to start. You are asked to be on time as other ceremonies are booked at intervals throughout the day.

Parking

Unfortunately, parking facilities are not available at the Register Office. However, there is a large public car park situated at the "Goods Yard" (behind the Bus Station) nearby. The official car will be given a parking permit entitling them to park in the designated parking area at the side of the Municipal Buildings for the duration of the ceremony.

Please note: Parking spaces cannot be guaranteed.

Approved Premise Ceremony

Your Renewal of Vows ceremony is a unique and special occasion and the venue you choose can help make this day a memorable and enchanting experience for both yourselves and your guests. Imagine exchanging vows in attractive historical locations. Picture your photographs set in impressive gardens and surrounded by trees and colourful flowers. Our venues offer couples the opportunity to have that perfect romantic day, offering memories to last a lifetime and if you have been married for some years already, a reflection of your life together.

If you should decide to hold your ceremony at one of our Approved Premises, you should contact the venue of your choice and make a provisional booking with the person concerned, you MUST then confirm this booking with the Superintendent Registrar at Pontypridd Register Office to ensure that Celebrants will be available on the day to conduct your ceremony.

Please note: It is essential that you agree the date and time of your ceremony, with BOTH the Superintendent Registrar and the Responsible Person at your chosen venue BEFORE making any other arrangements for your ceremony. A small non-refundable booking fee is charged to provisionally book a date and time for your ceremony.

Once you have confirmed the date and time of your ceremony, you will then need to make an appointment to discuss your requirements with the Celebrant who will be officiating at your ceremony. A consultation fee is charged for this.

You will then receive written confirmation of your booking assuring you of our attendance at your ceremony. In this confirmation we will ask you to arrange an appointment approximately 6 weeks prior to the ceremony to discuss the format and content of your ceremony and to pay our attendance fees.
