If there are immediate concerns for your child/children’s safety (or the child/children you care for), Childrens Services can take immediate action through the courts.
- Children’s Services can seek an Emergency Protection Order. This can be issued to immediately remove a child to a place of safety.
- Children’s Services can seek an Exclusion Order. This can be issued to remove an abusive person from the home.
- Children’s Services can seek ‘A Child Assessment Order.’ This allows Social Workers to speak to and assess a child without parental consent.
- When Children’s Services are concerned that a child may be at risk of female genital mutilation, A Female Genital Mutilation Protection Order (FGMPO) means that a victim or potential victim can be protected.
Please note: The police can remove a child to a place of safety for up to 72 hours without obtaining a court order.
