How it works
If you are a care leaver under the age of 25, either living alone or with another adult over the age of 18, you can make an application for a care leavers council tax discount or exemption.
Who it is for (eligibility)
You are eligible for a care leavers discount or exepmtion if you are:
- aged 18 - 24
- a category 3 young person as defined by section 104 of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014(5).
Apply
To apply for the discount or exemption:
- Download and print the Care leaver application form.
or
Call our contact centre on 01443 425002 to request an application to be posted to you.
- Complete and sign section 1 of the form.
- Get your Personal Advisor to complete and sign section 2 of the form.
- Send the completed form to:

You must continue to pay your current Council Tax bill while the outcome of your application is decided.
