Valleys Regional Park (VRP) is a partnership of Welsh organisations, including councils and charities, working with nature to help the South Wales Valleys thrive — environmentally, socially and economically.
The VRP footprint spans from Carmarthenshire to Blaenavon, bordering the Brecon Beacons— and has a network of uplands, woodlands, nature reserves, country parks, rivers, reservoirs, canals, heritage sites and attractions. 13 Local authorities are involved in the partnership: Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Methyr Tydil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, RCT, Swansea, Torfaen and the Vale of Glamorgan. The VRP aims to improve quality of life, economic prospects and health and wellbeing in the South Wales Valleys by connecting people with the region’s green spaces. Across the VRP there are 12 Discovery gateway sites which are great places to start discovering the local area. In Rhondda Cynon Taf these include Ynysangharad War Memorial Park and National Lido and Dare Valley Country Park in RCT.
