The Council, as a public service, is required to meet certain Standards in terms of the Welsh language.
The Standards are listed in the Council’s Compliance Notice which is drawn up under Section 44 of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure, 2011 which was issued to the Council on 30th September 2015.
Give Welsh a Go Pamphlet
In partnership with RCT Town Centres, the Council's Welsh Language Services have created a pamphlet which aims to encourage RCT residents to ‘Give Welsh a Go’ when visiting local businesses and shops. The bilingual pamphlet contains figures regarding the Welsh Language locally, a brief history on the place names of some of our main towns, support in terms of learning Welsh and a list of helpful phrases to use when out and about.
Taking part is easy - hand out pamphlets to staff and customers and you’re good to go! You can practice greeting customers, or even helping them to order their favourite meal or drink!

5 year Welsh Language Promotional Strategy
As per Standard 145, the Council is required to draw up and publish an action plan to promote the Welsh language with the aim of increasing language use and the number of Welsh speakers in the County Borough. This is the second Welsh language promotional strategy for the Council to publish since the Welsh language standards came into force.
