Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council has completed its review of the national 20mph speed limit, following the requirement set by Welsh Government for all Local Authorities to reassess the initial implementation. This review used the updated national guidance, revised place making criteria and feedback received through the Welsh Government Listening Campaign.
Between September 22 and October 13, 2025, the Council undertook an informal consultation on 26 roads identified for potential reversion from 20mph back to 30mph. After reviewing all representations, consulting with local Members and refining the proposals, 22 roads are now progressing to the statutory Public Notice stage. Four roads are proposed to remain at 20mph, and the proposed change at Sardis Road has been amended so that Factory Lane is no longer included.
Statutory Public Notice Period
The statutory Public Notice will run from Friday, January 23, to Friday, February 13 (2026). During this period, residents and stakeholders may submit formal objections or representations.
