Specialist Care Accommodation, Gelli

The Council is creating a specialist care accommodation for people with learning disabilities in adulthood and older age – being built on the former Bronllwyn Residential Care Home site. Construction work started in late 2024, and is on course for completion in 2026.

Bronllwyn specialist accommodation gelliCouncil contractor Langstone Construction Group is transforming the site at Colwyn Road. The development will include 14 en-suite rooms with respite provision, built across a lower ground floor, ground floor, and first floor. A courtyard will be positioned west of the building, while the car park and access point are being retained.

Among the modern amenities within the building will be three day rooms and sensory rooms, a commercial kitchen, hairdresser, assisted bathrooms and a training room.

The contractor has established a very good relationship with the nursery and primary education settings located near the work site – and will work hard to ensure there is minimal disruption to these settings during the construction period.

Langstone has also sponsored the ‘Bumbles of Honeywood’ programme, which is developing the entrepreneurial skills of young people with Cylch Meithrin Bronllwyn, while it has also provided high-visibility tabards for local nursery and primary pupils.

Planning permission for the development was received in 2023, while the former care home buildings on the site were demolished during 2024.
