Play Area investment enables our very youngest residents to access to high-quality, safe and accessible spaces where they - and their imaginations – can run free! In 2025/26, we’re improving several of our community sites, and developing two skate park facilities for the future, contributing to our Transforming RCT investment.
Play area projects focus on optimum use of space, a range of equipment and - importantly - equipment that inspires development and confidence through play. One child’s climbing tower is another’s playhouse!
From complete refurbishments of play areas, to providing Multi Use Games Areas and carrying out essential maintenance and safety work, our Play Area investment is being delivered across the County Borough.
As well as the work completed to date, which is detailed below, the Play Area Investment team have a further 12 play areas they are actively progressing work on. We will add these schemes to this page as they are completed. We’re also working on the delivery of two new skate parks as longer-term projects.

Replacement of the main multi-use play equipment, installation of more benches for parents, and safety works such as fencing and surfacing.
