May Bank Holidays 2023

Residents across Rhondda Cynon Taf will get to enjoy lots of bank holidays next month (May).

Three extra days off are now firmly in the calendar for May 2023. The extra bank holiday this year is thanks to HRH King Charles III Royal Coronation, which will take place on Saturday 6th May and result in UK residents being given a celebratory bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

As there will be a number of bank holidays taking place, some of the Council’s services will be unavailable.

There will be NO CHANGE to recycling and bin collections on any of the planned bank holidays– please place out at your usual collection point, on your usual days/times. ALL Community Recycling Centres will be OPEN on Mondays from 8am – 7.30pm.

The Council’s offices will be closed on the following bank holidays:

  • Monday 1st May and re-open on Tuesday 2nd May
  • Monday 8th May and re-open on Tuesday 9th May
  • Monday 29th May and re-open on Tuesday 30th May.

This will also apply to ALL major services and includes:

  • libraries,
  • public toilets,
  • lockable car parks,
  • schools,
  • one4aLL centres,
  • bereavement services,
  • registrars
  • social care

Out-of-hours emergencies will still be available.

  • Out-of-hours Social Care emergencies call: 01443 743665.
  • Out of hours emergency homelessness services call 01443 425011.

Details of the ALL the services available and their opening hours during this period are available in more details on the Council’s website www.rctcbc.gov.uk/bankholiday

You can still access a wide range of online services during these periods at www.rctcbc.gov.uk/ContactUs, however residents are reminded that their requests may not be processed until offices re-open.
