Following a period of wet and inclement weather, and with the Met Office issuing another Yellow Weather Warning for heavy rain for most of Wales, including Rhondda Cynon Taf, between 9pm today (Wednesday, January 11) and 5pm tomorrow (Thursday, January 12), the Council is undertaking a range of proactive measures.
The forecasters have indicated that there is a possibility of the current YELLOW Warning being upgraded to an AMBER Warning, and the Council will issue further updates if this becomes the case.
In the meantime, the Council will be opening its Emergency Control Centre during the Weather Warning period to remotely monitor key culverts and has also brought in extra crews and resources to deal with any issues that may potentially arise.
Culverts and drains also continue to be proactively monitored and crews will be clearing debris from them if required.
Residents are asked to remain vigilant throughout the Warning period and report anything of concern to the Council’s Emergency Out of Hours number on 01443 425011.
Where possible and safe to do so, residents and businesses are also being asked to themselves help alleviate the risk of flooding in local areas through small actions such as removing fallen leaves and clearing other debris from private drains and properties, as these often result in blocked drains and gullies.
