An essential bridge joint repair will be undertaken near Harriet Street Roundabout, Trecynon – under night-time road closures to minimise disruption.
The bridge is located on the A4059’s southern approach to the roundabout, and requires five night time closures of the A4059 between Harriet Street and Meirion Street (Robertstown) roundabouts.
The closures will be run between 8pm-6am from Monday, July 24, to Friday, July 28 – with the final closure ending by 6am on Saturday, July 29.
An alternative route for motorists is via A4059 Aberdare Bypass bridge, Depot Road Roundabout, A4233, Gadlys Roundabout, Gadlys Road, B4275 Hirwaun Road, Cemetery Road, Hirwaun Road, Penywaun Roundabout and A4059 Aberdare Bypass – or this route in reverse order.
Access will not be maintained for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians.
Repairing the bridge joint is essential to future-proof the structure, which supports the critical A4059 route.
Some elements of the work will cause unavoidable noise disruption, but the Council’s contractor USL Ekspan will work to reduce noise levels as much as possible.
This repair scheme is being completed using Council revenue funding for Highway Structures.
