The RCT Community Safety Team is supporting the ‘Remembering Srebrenica’ commemoration, which marks the 28th anniversary of the genocide this week.
The Coliseum Theatre in Aberdare and the Park and Dare Theatre in Treorchy will be lit up in green, to remember the victims and reflect on how we can encourage peace and unity.
An exhibition is also currently being displayed at Llys Cadwyn in Pontypridd, detailing the Bosnia War and highlighting the Srebrenica genocide. This will remain in place until Friday (July 14).
Today marks the anniversary of the start of the genocide (July 11, 1995), and a Peace Walk will be taking place around the centre of Cardiff – organised by Remembering Srebrenica in Wales.
It will start at 6.30pm at Cardiff Castle underneath the Srebrenica flag which will be flying.
The walk will visit a church, a synagogue and a mosque, with a short tour and reflection in each venue.
The walk will return to Cardiff Castle at around 9.30pm to see the castle lit up in green, with the event finishing with some words of remembrance.
