Residents may soon notice works activity to repair the river wall at several locations along the Rhondda River near Gelli Park.
The Council has appointed Centregreat Ltd to carry out the scheme, and site setup will begin from Monday, May 15.
The scheme will take place over a 250-metre length of the wall, and includes reconstructing a section which has partially collapsed.
Overall works will include underpinning scour repairs, masonry repointing, repairs of cracks, reinstatement of missing or loose masonry, and removal and treatment of invasive species.
The contractor will access the wall via Gelli Park, using the gated access point off Lloyd Street (to the east of the park).
The majority of the work will take place with minimal disruption, however the contractor might need to implement local traffic management and pedestrian arrangements to access the park.
This would likely apply to Lloyd Street, Smith Street and/or Park View. No road closures are anticipated.
The overall scheme will last around 10 weeks – thanks to residents and park visitors in advance for your cooperation.
