Following further progression of works since the last update to residents, the Council has provided a summary of the latest developments as the Maindy Road Bridge scheme continues at pace.
Since the last update in early September, works have continued to progress well and the scheme remains on course to be completed in advance of schedule. Officers are continuing to work closely with contractors to accelerate this and reduce the timeframe as much as possible, and the weekend working arrangements are designed to expediate the progress as much as possible.
The complex traffic management changes, which has seen Bailey Street opened to accommodate local traffic (Cwmparc, the Bwlch and Treorchy Comprehensive) all day Monday-Friday, have been working well since their implementation and will continue to the end of the works.
Over the last 2 weeks, works completed include: the diversion of the Wales and West Utilities gas main, the placement and installation (including stitching) of the precast deck sections, and the excavation and re-building of the wall outside No.1 Maindy Road.
The Council would like to once again thank residents and commuters for their continued patience and co-operation with this scheme.
