Work to resolve issue on a section of road between Glyn-coch and Ynysybwl

B4273 Glyncoch to Ynysybwl - Copy

A scheme to provide support to the carriageway on the B4273 between Glyncoch and Ynysybwl will begin next week – and the existing temporary traffic lights will be removed upon completion.

Following a report of cracking in the carriageway, the temporary lights were installed as a safety measure to reduce loading to the adjacent river wall.

The issue has since been investigated and a scheme has been designed to resolve the problem – and this will get underway on Monday, April 8, lasting nine weeks.

Temporary works will initially take place, enabling two-way traffic to be maintained throughout the scheme, along with maintaining pedestrian access.

The main project will then install a pre-cast concrete edge beam to support the carriageway, which will be secured by installing rock dowels.

Towards the end of the scheme, all drainage, kerbing, road markings, signing, lining and highway verges will be reinstated.

Final carriageway resurfacing will also take place – requiring a road closure that will be further communicated nearer the time.

The Council has appointed Alun Griffiths Ltd as the contractor to deliver the scheme, which is funded via Welsh Government’s programme for Storm Dennis works.

Thanks to road users in advance for your cooperation during this scheme, which will resolve the issue at this location.
