Residents in Cefnpennar may notice work activity from next week as an important culvert improvement scheme begins locally.
Using funding from Welsh Government’s Coal Tip Safety Grant Scheme, the Council will undertake the work from Monday, August 19.
The work will consist of upgrading the culvert inlet, which is located on land to the east of The Avenue, and south east of Ffordd-Y-Derwen.
Alongside this, an access track will be constructed to facilitate future maintenance of the culvert – while the local land drainage network will also be improved.
The RCT Streetcare team will undertake the work alongside the appointed contractor, Peter Simmons Construction.
The work will improve local resilience to flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, and the scheme is due for completion by the end of autumn 2024.
Residents are advised that the contractor will access the work site via the track off The Avenue.
An increase in construction traffic may therefore be experienced during the work hours – 8am to 5pm.
Thanks to the community in advance for your cooperation.
