The Council will shortly undertake resurfacing to two roundabouts on the Church Village bypass – the first taking place at Tonteg Roundabout from Tuesday, scheduled at night to minimise disruption.
The A473 Tonteg Roundabout (pictured) will close for four consecutive nights, from Tuesday to Friday (8pm-3am, August 13-16). The work will therefore conclude by 3am on Saturday, August 17.
The scheme will be delivered via the Council’s combined £7.5m programme for highway and footway renewals, via its capital programme, being delivered during 2024/25.
During the night-time closures of Tonteg Roundabout, an alternative route for motorists will be clearly signposted.
From the southern side of the closure proceed via A473 Nant Celyn Roundabout, Station Road, Main Road, B4595 Llantwit Road, Park Street, Fothergill Street, Glyntaff Roundabout, A4054 Cardiff Road, Upper Boat Roundabout and A473 Tonteg Road.
From the northern side of the closure proceed via A473 Tonteg Road, A4054 Cardiff Road, Glyntaff Roundabout, River Street, Forest Road, Park Street, Llantwit Road, B4594 Tonteg Road, Main Road, Station Road and A473 Nant Celyn Roundabout.
The section of road to be closed, as well as the alternative routes for motorists, are outlined on the following map on the Council’s website.
Access for pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained. Cyclists are advised to dismount and take the pedestrian access.
Following the completion of this scheme, the Council will deliver similar night-time work at the nearby Nant Celyn Roundabout from August 17 – full details will be communicated shortly.
Thanks to residents and road users for your cooperation.
