Residents are advised of temporary arrangements for evening bus journeys to and from Gilfach Goch, due to an upcoming resurfacing scheme by Bridgend County Borough Council.
A road closure is needed at A4093 Glynogwr – from the access to Pant Y Wal windfarm to a point just outside the Rhondda Cynon Taf county boundary.
The scheme will take place at night, from 7pm to 7am, between Wednesday, February 28, and Tuesday, March 5 (ending by 7am on March 6).
An alternative route for motorists is via route A4093 at Gilfach Goch, route A4119, route A4058, Bwlch Mountain, route A4061, and route A4093 – or this route in reverse order.
Bridgend CBC has advised emergency services to use this alternative route.
The closure will affect the later journeys by Stagecoach Service 172 (Aberdare-Bridgend). Journeys in both directions will be unable to serve Gilfach Goch and will use a diversion route as follows.
The 6.55pm and 8.15pm journeys from Bridgend will reach Sainsbury’s at Sarn, and then travel via the M4 Jct 34, route A4119 and route A4093, before resuming their route at Tonyrefail Cemetery.
The 6.15pm journey from Aberdare will use the same route in the opposite direction, reaching Tonyrefail Cemetery and then route A4093, route A4119 and the M4, before heading to Sainsbury’s at Sarn.
All prior journeys in the mornings and afternoons will be unaffected.
Thanks in advance to bus users for your cooperation.
