Residents in Ynysybwl are given advanced notice of routine maintenance work planned in the New Year, at the tip sites of the former Lady Windsor Colliery.
The four sites are adjacent to one another, positioned to the east of B4273 New Road – and work across this area will start from Wednesday, January 7 (2026).
Works will include the removal of silt in and around drainage infrastructure, as well as other assets across the four sites.
In addition, localised vegetation clearance will be undertaken, which will increase access for routine tip inspections and monitoring in the future.
The RCT Streetcare Team will undertake the work alongside sub-contractor Dee Plant, with the scheme expected to last around two weeks.
Minimal overall disruption is expected, although there may be some noise disturbance from the work site activity.
In addition, vehicles will be accessing the site via Windsor Place and Heol Celynnen, so residents may notice an increase in traffic during working hours (8am-5pm).
These works are being funded through Welsh Government’s Coal Tip Safety Grant, through which the Council has secured £11.4 million to monitor and maintain coal tips in Rhondda Cynon Taf during 2025/26.
Thanks in advance to the community in Ynysybwl for your cooperation.
