The Council will soon undertake a series of important repairs to the boundary wall at Llwynypia Road, Tonypandy, which provides support to the monument garden above it.
The work will start on Monday, December 8, and will be split into two phases of work. The overall scheme will be completed during spring 2026.
Work from next week, lasting up until Christmas, will rebuild the southern pier and the front face of the wall – representing phase one of the overall works. Phase two will follow on from early January 2026, to rebuild the northern section of the wall and the steps.
No management for moving traffic is needed – Llwynypia Road will remain open with no road or lane closures anticipated.
Footway closures will be needed next to the respective work areas in phases one and two, and pedestrian diversions will be clearly signposted. Parking bays will also need to be suspended near each work area, to maintain visibility and pedestrian safety.
These works are being delivered through the Council’s revenue budget, and Hammond ECS Ltd is the appointed contractor.
Thanks in advance to the community for your cooperation.
