UPDATED, 25/02/25 – please note, the anticipated duration of the scheme has been extended to three days, up to and including Friday, February 28. The text below has been updated to reflect this. Thanks
The Council will complete road resurfacing at Cardiff Road in Treforest, near the Castle Inn Footbridge – which has been scheduled during half term to minimise disruption.
A necessary road closure is needed from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (February 26, 27 and 28), to complete the road improvements.
It follows the Castle Inn Footbridge replacement scheme and recent Welsh Water works at this location. Welsh Water’s remaining work is scheduled for March, with a reduced scope of works that is confined to the footways.
During work hours, Cardiff Road will close south of the Glyntaff Interchange for around 300-metres. Please see the closure area on the following map.
An alternative route is available via Cardiff Road, Upper Boat Interchange, Gwaelod y Garth Road, Tonteg Road, Main Road, Llantwit Road, River Street, Fothergill Street, and Broadway.
Access will be maintained for pedestrians, emergency services and to premises. Cyclists are advised to dismount and take the pedestrian route.
Please note, a free shuttle bus will also operate during the closure hours – between Castle Inn Bridge, Cardiff Road, and the Pottery bus stops at Treforest Industrial Estate, for ongoing and returning travel.
The full shuttle bus timetable has been included on the Council’s website.
The works will require fair weather to proceed – any change to the schedule will be communicated to residents via the Council’s social media channels.
Thanks to the community in advance for your cooperation.
