Cold Water Swims return for 2025

Start 2025 off the right way with cold water swims at the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty!

Back by popular demand, weekend cold water swims will return to Lido Ponty on Saturday, February 1 and run every Saturday and Sunday for six weeks. The pool temperatures will be set at 15 degrees.

Tickets go on sale 9am on Monday, January 13, 2025.

The cold-water swims attracted visitors from across the UK last year. Their return follows the successful Boxing Day and New Year’s Day celebration swims at the much-loved facility.

Cold Water swims will start the 2025 season, running for six weeks to March 8 and then the main season, with weekday swims and weekend family fun sessions, expected to resume around Easter time.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “After another brilliant, but challenging, year at Lido Ponty in 2024, during which we welcomed visitors from across the world alongside hundreds of our loyal locals and survived damage caused by not one, but two major storms, it’s time to welcome 2025 with cold water swims.

“The sessions continue to grow in popularity and we welcome swimmers aged 16 and over – wetsuits, swimming hats, gloves and boots can be worn if needed.

“The sessions are great for those looking to get started in cold water swimming and people can stay for as long as they want. Some swim for the entire session, others dip in and out!

“As always, the indoor changing rooms and showers are toasty warm and our neighbours at Caffi Lido, as well as a huge range of cafes and restaurants in Pontypridd town selling hot drinks, snacks and meals, will be open.”
