UPDATE: 20/01/25 – please be aware, these works in Cilfynydd will now begin on January 27 following an unavoidable delay. The original article below has been updated with this new arrangement. Thanks
A work scheme will begin next week to rectify damage to a large wall in Cilfynydd, which requires necessary traffic management over the weeks ahead.
The masonry retaining wall is located between Cilfynydd Road and the A470 – with the pictured section of the structure needing to be rebuilt.
It sustained the damage during a road traffic collision at this location last year, which needs to be rectified to future-proof the structure.
The scheme will require temporary traffic lights during the day-time at Cilfynydd Road – lasting around four weeks from Monday, January 27.
Please note, the existing footway closure at this location will continue for the duration of the works – however, temporary pedestrian crossing facilities will be provided within the traffic management.
The work will also require a small number of lane and road closures on the A470 southbound, to safely carry out some elements of the work.
These will be carried out at night to minimise disruption and will be promoted by the South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA), which has responsibility for the A470.
The Council has appointed contractor Hammond ECS Ltd to carry out the wall repairs.
Thanks to residents and road users in advance for your cooperation.
