Local repairs to section of collapsed river wall in Porth

Brook Street, Porth grid - Copy

Residents in Porth may notice river wall repairs taking place adjacent to the A4058 from next week, downstream of the bridge at Brook Street – but minimal disruption is expected to the community.

Sections of the river wall were damaged during storm events during late 2024, and some areas have previously been repaired (pictured, right).

The next section that will be focused on is pictured left, with these repairs consisting of patching in areas that have collapsed into the river.

Repointing activity and vegetation works will also be undertaken by the Council’s appointed contractor, Hammond ECS Ltd.

The work will start from Monday, June 23, and is anticipated to last approximately six weeks in total.

No traffic management or footway closures are required along the A4058, due to the work location being set back from the road.

Funding has been included for the Brook Street/A4058 river wall repairs in the Council’s 2025/26 Highways Capital Programme.

Thanks to the community in advance for your cooperation.
