Ground investigations at local tip site in Gilfach Goch

Gilfach Goch tip

Residents are advised that the Council will be undertaking routine work activity at Gilfach Goch Tip from next week, using funding from Welsh Government.

The work will include ground investigations on the spoil tip, to assess the conditions at the site – as part of the regular inspection work undertaken by the Council’s dedicated Tip Safety Team.

The Council has appointed Jackson Geo Services Ltd to undertake the work, which will start on Monday, October 13, and last for around three weeks in total.

The contractor will be accessing the tip site via Rosehill Terrace, so residents may experience an increase in construction traffic locally during working hours (8am-5pm).

Traffic movements along the nearby residential streets will be limited to accessing and exiting the coal tip site.

This work is funded via the £11.49 million allocation from Welsh Government’s Coal Tip Safety Grant, which the Council has secured to monitor and maintain Rhondda Cynon Taf coal tips in 2025/26.

Thanks to the community in advance for your cooperation.
