Routine maintenance work underway at Pontypridd tip site

Maritime 1 - Copy

Residents are advised about routine vegetation clearance taking place across the Maritime Tip near Maes-y-Coed, with the works scheduled during the remainder of October.

The scheme is using Welsh Government funding, and is part of the routine inspection and maintenance activity carried out throughout the year by the Council’s Tip Safety Team.

The vegetation clearance will targeted be along the routes previously cleared last year, and are essential to maintain an open access for future inspections and maintenance work.

They will also prevent the regrowth of vegetation, while supporting and enhancing biodiversity along the previously-cleared areas.

The works got underway from Thursday, October 9, and will be completed by the RCT Streetcare Team over the next three weeks.

Workers will access the site via several points along Gelliwion Road and through the bottom of the Maritime Industrial Estate. An increase in construction traffic may be seen at times during the working hours (8am-5pm, Mondays to Fridays).

Some pedestrian accesses on the tip site may be temporarily restricted where the work is taking place, to ensure safety. This is due to the narrow nature of certain paths.

These areas will be clearly marked by temporary fencing and will be reopened at the end of each work day – however, there may be exceptions where certain paths need to remain closed overnight to ensure safety.

Thanks to the community in advance for your cooperation.
