Secondary School Meal Payments Made Easier with New Online System

Dinner money app EN

Parents and carers of children in Secondary schools across Rhondda Cynon Taf can now enjoy a quicker, clearer and more convenient way to manage school meal payments, thanks to the new iPayimpact online system. The iPayimpact app and website, allows families to check balances, top up dinner money and view the history of meals bought by pupils at any time.

Balances update almost instantly, and low‑balance alerts can easily be set up to ensure accounts are in credit giving families flexibility to manage accounts in a way that suits them

The new system has been successfully trialled in Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun and will be rolled out to all secondary schools in the coming months.

Key Benefits of the new system:

  • Instant balance checks via the app or website
  • Quick and secure top‑ups for school meals
  • Full meal purchase history available to view
  • Low balance notifications to help parents and carers stay on top of payments
  • Support for Free School Meal pupils, allowing families to view purchases and add funds for additional items

The system also includes helpful features such as password reset options, easy account activation support and clear guidance for resolving common log in issues.

When the new system is ready to be rolled out in each school, parents and carers will receive a letter directly from the school with log in information and comprehensive information as to how to use the app.  Until then, the current payment system will be in use.  There will be no change to the way pupils buy meals in school and all balances will automatically carry over to the new system.

Dr Marium Haque, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Director of Education and Inclusion Services, said:

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is committed to making school services as accessible and user‑friendly as possible for families across Rhondda Cynon Taf. The iPayimpact system gives parents greater control and transparency with school meal payments, helping them stay informed and manage balances with ease. This is another positive step in modernising our school systems and supporting families in their day‑to‑day routines.
