Temporary arrangements for road users during drainage work in Hirwaun

Hirwaun closure 1 - Copy

Residents are advised about upcoming drainage improvement works in Hirwaun, which will require local traffic management.

The scheme at High Street will reconstruct a manhole along with connections to the existing drainage lines. This will tackle a known issue of water accumulation within the highway during periods of heavy rainfall.

The works will last around two weeks from Monday, April 27, and they will be undertaken by the RCT Streetcare Team.

To complete the works, the Davies Row-High Street junction will be closed, and two-way traffic lights will be needed at High Street. To facilitate an alternative route for motorists, the one-way section of road at Davies Row will be reversed – enabling traffic in the opposite direction to usual.

The alternative route will therefore be available via the unnamed road between Heol Uchel and Davies Row, Davies Row, Station Road, and the unnamed street adjacent to the Cardiff Arms Hotel (between High Street and Station Road). The road closure and alternative route are shown on the following map.

These arrangements will ensure access is retained to the Council car park behind the library, along with Station Road which leads to properties. Access will be maintained for emergency services, pedestrians, and to premises. Signs have been placed at the road to inform motorists of the upcoming works.

Thanks to the community for your cooperation in advance.
