Upcoming clearance activity at former coal tip site in Trehafod

Lewis Merthyr Colliery web

Residents are advised that vegetation clearance work will begin at the Lewis Merthyr Coal Tip in Trehafod from next week.

The large former mining site is located generally to the south of Coedcae Road and south-west of Rheolau Terrace.

The local community may notice work activity from Monday, April 13, lasting around three weeks in total.

The clearance work will help manage drainage around watercourse channels and culverts within the site, while also maintaining access for future inspections and works.

The work will be undertaken by the RCT Streetcare Team, which will access the site via Heol-y-Parc – where residents may experience an increase in construction traffic.

While there will be minimal overall disruption, there may be limited noise disturbance from cutting tools.

Please note, these are separate works to those carried out at the same location earlier in the year, as described in a previous news item.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
