Redundancy Support Sessions

A series of information sessions have been organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and its partners to support those affected by the recent, unexpected closure of the London Mint Office Ltd distribution centre in Williamstown.

The events will provide access to a range of support services, information and advice.

There will also be opportunities for people to book ongoing one-to-one support, interview skills, CV workshops, job application support and training courses with the Council’s dedicated Work and Skills team.

Key partners, including Job Centre Plus, Citizens’ Advice and Careers Wales are also set to attend the events to ensure there is as wide a range of support on offer as possible.

Some 160 people have been affected by the sudden closure of the London Mint Office Ltd centre and most of them are living in the Rhondda and Taf areas.

Cllr Scott Emanuel, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Leisureg, said: “Our thoughts are with all of those who are affected by this sudden closure of a local employer. This is a very worrying and distressing time for them.

“As a Council, we want to offer as much support to them as we can. Our Work and Skills Team have stepped in to organise a series of sessions to deliver practical, important multi-agency support for those affected as soon as possible.

“We thank our team, and the partner agencies, for responding to the needs of residents so swiftly and want to encourage people to take advantage of these sessions and the support that is on offer.

“It is important to remember that the Work and Skills Team remain on hand even if you cannot attend these sessions.”

Please remember the Work and Skills Team are on hand to all RCT residents aged 16 and over who need help with finding a job, preparing for a job or looking to develop their skills or experience via volunteering or training, with a wide range of free courses – from digital skills and CV workshops to first aid, beauty and retail – on offer.
