Road reopens near Llwydcoed as bridge repair scheme is completed

The pictured section of Croesbychan Road in Llwydcoed has now reopened, following the completion of important repairs to the bridge that carries the road. 

The summer scheme to future-proof the structure has completed concrete repairs to the underside of the bridge deck, repairs to the topside of the bridge deck, and waterproofing works.

The main activity was completed recently, and has been followed by reinstating the kerb lines, footways and verges that were removed to carry out the works. Resurfacing has also now been completed to the section of Croesbychan Road near the bridge.

The overall scheme was completed today – Thursday, August 27 – with the temporary road closure now lifted.

Please note that the contractor’s site compound and welfare facilities currently remain in place in the nearby layby, but will be removed by the end of next week. No additional traffic management is needed for this.

Horan Construction Ltd delivered this scheme, which was funded through the Council’s Highways and Engineering Capital Programme (2026/27), within an allocation for Highways Structures worth over £12 million.
