Visitors to the Park & Dare Theatre may notice scaffolding at the front of the building as work is undertaken to ensure the building remains in tip-top shape into the future. The works began on Monday, 10 August, and are expected to last for approximately eight weeks.
The work forms part of our commitment to ensure our much-loved community venues are maintained and improved through the ongoing TransformingRCT investment programme. These improvements will help to safeguard the theatre for future generations, ensuring it continues to play a vital role in the cultural life of our communities for many years to come.
To facilitate the works, temporary changes to access arrangements will be in place. During periods when drilling works are being undertaken, there will be no access to the theatre via the Dyfodwg Street entrance.
Throughout the project, access via Dyfodwg Street will be available during performance times only. At all other times, visitors should enter and exit the theatre via Station Road.
Directional signage will be in place to help visitors navigate the site safely and easily during the works.
Councillor Scott Emanuel, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Leisure said: “The Park & Dare Theatre is a much-loved community venue with a long and proud history at the heart of the Rhondda, and this work will improve the venue so that it can continue to welcome audiences, performers and community groups for many years to come.
“These improvement works are part of the wider ‘TransformingRCT’ investment programme, which is maintaining and improving existing facilities across the County Borough, while also building brand new schools and infrastructure.
"We appreciate that the temporary access arrangements may cause some inconvenience, and I would like to thank residents, visitors and theatre users for their patience and understanding while these important works are carried out."
For the latest information about the works and access arrangements, visitors are encouraged to check the theatre's communication channels before attending.
