Bus changes during upcoming water main works in Hirwaun

Please be advised about temporary bus arrangements that will be in place next week in Hirwaun, due to planned works by Welsh Water. 

Welsh Water requires a local road closure at Cynon Terrace, as shown on the following map. These essential works will take place from Monday, March 2, to Wednesday, March 4, inclusive.

An alternative route for motorists is also shown on the map – it will be available via the unnamed road between Merthyr Road and Tramway, Heol Uchel, High Street and Brecon Road.

Welsh Water advises that access will not be maintained for emergency services nor pedestrians. Access to premises will be maintained.

For the duration of the closure, Stagecoach Service 8 (Aberdare to Glynneath) will be unable to serve its usual bus stops at High Street, Tramway and Cynon Terrace when returning towards Aberdare.The service will instead divert its route and travel via Brecon Road, and bus passengers are advised to use the stops on this road instead.

Alternatively, passengers can use the bus stops on High Street to access Stagecoach Service 9 (Merthyr Tydfil to Aberdare), which will be unaffected and using its usual route. Please note, these arrangements will have no impact on the local Service 8A, which operates during the evenings.

Notices will be put up at all affected bus stops in Hirwaun in advance of the works, to notify passengers about the temporary arrangements.
