Wall repair scheme has started on the A4054 in Pontypridd

Merthyr Road, Pontypridd

Essential repair works have got underway at A4054 Merthyr Road in Pontypridd, to rectify damaged to a highway retaining wall structure.

The Council has appointed Hammond ECS Ltd to undertake the works from Thursday, February 12, which are expected to last around three weeks in total.

The scheme will rectify a collapsed section of the parapet wall, where vegetation has displaced the coping stones. The rear of the wall has also experienced a substantial loss of pointing.

The work will require the installation and removal of scaffolding, which requires two-way traffic lights on Merthyr Road at the start and the end of the scheme. Outside of these elements of the work, no traffic management is anticipated.

Pedestrian access will also be maintained throughout, with the footway narrowed at the works locations to ensure safety.

The scheme is being funded through the Council’s revenue budget.

Thanks to residents and road users in advance for your cooperation.
