Back by popular demand, weekend cold water swims will return to Lido Ponty on Saturday, January 24 and run every Saturday and Sunday until March 3. The pool temperatures will be set at 15 degrees.

Tickets are on sale now here.

The cold-water swims attracted visitors from across the UK last year. Their return follows the successful Boxing Day and New Year’s Day celebration swims at the much-loved facility, which were once again a sell-out in 2025.

Cold water swims will mark the start of the 2026 season and will run up to March 1, before a brief pause in Lido Ponty opening before the main season starts at Easter.

Cllr Scott Emmanuel, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, including Lido Ponty, said: “Last year was a milestone year for the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty as it marked 10 years since the beloved attraction re-opened its doors following a £6.3m redevelopment of the original lido that has stood in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park since 1927.

“To date, nearly 900,000 swimmers have enjoyed the beautiful outdoor pools, via sessions including cold water swims, early morning swims, daytime casual swims, family fun sessions and, of course, the ever-popular Boxing Day and New Year’s Day swims.

“The fun is set to continue in 2026 and we welcome swimmers to the cold water swims, which are a perfect way to relax. Open to all aged 16 and over, the sessions are designed to allow you to stay for as little – or as long – as you like.

“Whether you want to swim for the entire time, or just dip in and out, it’s up to you. Wetsuits, hats, swimming gloves and boots can be worn if you wish.

“Cold water therapy continues to be a popular choice for many and the sessions at Lido Ponty, in the stunning surroundings of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park are a great introduction to that.

“Plus the showers and changing rooms remain toasty warm and there are plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants in Pontypridd where you can enjoy a hot drink or snack afterwards.

“This is the year the iconic bandstand in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park celebrates its centenary and Lido Ponty will be helping with the celebrations, before getting ready for its centenary in 2027!”
