A temporary shuttle bus will be in operation in Aberdare over the weeks ahead, starting from July 28 – during Wales and West Utilities’ gas main replacement work at Abernant Road.
To accommodate these works from July 28 to August 31, the section of road between Abernant Roundabout and the Ynys Roundabout will only support traffic in one direction (Abernant to Ynys Roundabout).
Traffic travelling in the direction of Abernant will need to follow the diversion via the A4059, Depot Road Roundabout (Tesco), Meirion Street Roundabout (Robertstown) and Wellington Street. The one-way arrangements and alternative route for motorists are illustrated on the following map.
Wales and West Utilities have advised that access for emergency services cannot be maintained, but access for pedestrians and to premises will be maintained.
During the month-long closure, a FREE shuttle bus (Mondays to Saturdays) operated by Keepings Coaches will be available for local residents to use.
The shuttle bus will operate via Aberdare Bus Station, Tesco Aberdare, Robertstown, Coleg y Cymoedd Aberdare campus, Llys yr Ysgol and the bus depot at Canal Road, and Asda Aberdare.
It will run each hour from 7.55am to 4.55pm departing Aberdare Bus Station, and from 8.15am to 5.15pm departing Asda Aberdare. Please find the full shuttle bus timetable here.
Its final day of operation will be Saturday, August 29 (with there being no service on Sunday nor the Bank Holiday Monday, August 31).
The temporary shuttle bus will complement Stagecoach’s re-routed 113 service that will travel via Abernant on its return from Cwm-bach, while the early Service 1 journey from Abernant (6.50am) will continue as normal.
Thanks to the community in advance for your cooperation during these Wales and West Utilities works.
