Weekday casual swims and after-school fun are back at the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty!

The main season continues to roll out as the beloved attraction in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, gets ready for its 11th summer.

Book your session online from 9am on Monday, May 18.

Thousands of people have already enjoyed the outdoor pools this year, thanks to cold water Winter swims, early morning swims seven days a week and, of course, fun sessions on weekends and in school holidays.

The fun doesn’t stop! From Monday, June 1, daytime casual swims will be introduced to the timetable for weekdays, with four sessions to allow relaxed and lane swimming in the heated pools.

The daytime sessions are perfect for:

  • Those looking for a casual swim while the kids are in school
  • Those who home school who want to take the kids for a swim during quieter times
  • Lunchtime swims for those working in the town

From the same date, two after-school fun sessions will be added to weekdays as well. Let the kids relax and unwind after a day in school and burn off the last of that energy before bedtime on the inflatable obstacle course, water zorb and paddle boats.

The additional sessions from June 1 means Lido Ponty now offers:

  • Early morning swims seven days a week
  • Six family fun sessions on weekends, bank holidays and every day during school holidays.
  • Two after-school fun sessions on weekdays during term time.
  • Four day-time casual swim sessions during term times.

Cllr Scott Emanuel, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Leisure, said: “We are ready for Summer 2026 – the 11th year of the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty.

“Almost one million people from all over the world have enjoyed time at this beautiful attraction, which continues to offer affordable open air swimming for adults and free swimming for those aged 16 and under.

“From cold water swims and family fun in the sun, to special events such as the upcoming Parti Pwll Ponti on July 3, an evening of swimming and music from Menter Iaith, the National Lido of Wales continues to offer something for everyone.

“If you haven’t visited us yet, please do this summer – swim, relax on the terrace, take on the inflatable obstacle course and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park!”
